The Barranco del Río Vero is the logo of the Sierra de Guara. Its beauty has crossed borders and has made it the most famous descent of the mountain canyons. In this river the phenomenon of Canyoning began for everyone, without having to be a specialist.
The descent begins in Lecina and ends at the Romanesque bridge of Villacantal, at the foot of Alquézar. For thousands of years, water has been sculpting the rock, forming a spectacular canyon, which will leave no one indifferent.
Its length is approximately 7 kms. Grandiose cliffs, deep chaos, open and sunny areas, beautiful pools, caves, rock birds, cave paintings, medieval bridges – and all with hardly any technical difficulties. It is a spectacle of light and color.
But we should not be complacent, the Vero River Canyon is the one that occupies the first place in number of accidents. A basic physical condition and a good evaluation of the flow will be essential to make the day an exciting experience.
Here we will not find adrenaline, nor difficult rappels, but a friendly and fun approach to the heart of Nature.
