The Huesca Pyrenees offers us a perfect setting for the practice of adventure sports, a good example is canyoning in Aínsa. Its large number of valleys, full of rivers with crystal clear waters, make it a perfect enclave to enjoy this sport. We will be able to enter the Ordesa Valley, but also the nearby valleys of Pineta, Escuaín, Benasque or Tena. Canyoning in Aínsa is one of the most fun activities that can be practiced in nature, both with friends, family and even with children. You will walk through spectacular landscapes, swim in crystal clear waters, bathe in natural pools, descend walls and waterfalls rappelling… An unforgettable experience that you will surely want to repeat.
Canyoning in Aínsa for beginners
If you want to get started in this sport or you don’t have too much experience, you can choose between the following canyons (level 1-2)
- Miraval Ravine. Escuaín Valley, Yaga River. Very aquatic, fun and without rappelling
- Viandico ravine. With jumps and a rappel. Ideal for beginners or if you have already done a canyon before.
- Barrosa ravine. With mandatory rappelling.
- Barranco de las Gloces. Vío Valley. Canyoned route that can dry in summer. It stands out for its very contrasting landscapes.
- Barranco de Trigoniero. Nestled in a forest. With technical rappels
- Barranco de Forcos. Perfect for enjoying a different landscape. It is not a sports ravine.
- Barranco de Abizanda. Easy and very beautiful descent ideal for beginners. In summer it does not carry water.
- Upper Yesa ravine. In the Vio Valley. A spectacular water ride.
There is also the option of going through dry ravines, such as the Barrancos de Basender and Portiacha. The first is an ideal ravine to learn to rappel, since the rappels it presents are very easy. Portiacha is a short descent, but it has three flying rappels of considerable height (30-35 meters), so in order to face it with confidence, we need to have learned to rappel previously.
Advanced canyoning in the Pyrenees
If you already have an advanced level in canyoning, the following level 2-3 canyons will be in charge of giving you the perfect mix of adrenaline and enjoyment:
- Barbaruens Ravine
- Mirabal Ravine
- Sorrosal Ravine
The routes descending the riverbed will make us jump into crystalline pools, slide down water slides carved in the stone over the years, overcome natural obstacles that will make this experience an unforgettable memory.
